Astro’s Playroom: Beginner’s Guide

As you get better at playing games, you’ll get better at being able to make things up as you go. Aside from being a technical showcase, Astro’s Playroom is also a game that was clearly made with a lot of care and passion. Each world is themed after a particular computer component, and one of the main goals is to collect secret items that are all pieces of classic PlayStation hardware. There’s even a trophy room where you can interact with them, using your little robot hands to turn on a gigantic PSP Go, or hop on the eject button of an original PlayStation to see the lid pop open. Astro’s Playroom could easily have been a simple tech demo, and in a way it is that.

Because the UMD drive was removed, the PSP Go could only play digital games, either downloaded from its PSN Store or transferred via a PlayStation 3. It also coudln’t use the Camera, Microphone or GPS peripherals without an adapter. The EyeToy camera was a webcam that allowed the player to participate in mixed-reality minigames, where their body is able to interact with the games on-screen. This makes it a precursor of sorts to Xbox’s Kinect seven years later. The Network Adapter allowed the PlayStation 2 to connect online for multiplayer, sliding into the Expansion Bay.

@Froggydarren I have been watching DF reviews for a long time now, and still find their framerate analysis to be a god send as anything much less than locked 60fps makes me feel ill – literally. I always thought they missed a big trick here, and should have had Astro bot (the game) reveal the look of the Pro at the end of the game – via some sort of super power up for the mothership. Stand at the edge of the level and throw the projectile towards it to reveal the location of the bot.

After the level starts, proceed ahead until you reach a wire sticking out from the ground. Proceed ahead and soon you will reach the second wire sticking out from the ground as shown in the second picture below. There you will see another wire sticking out from the ground on the left side as shown in the second picture below. To rescue this special Bot, you must have completed the game and defeated the final boss. Once you are ready, head to Gusty Gateway in the Memory Meadow as shown in the picture below.

If you jump over, you’ll see a monitor on the front with a clock on it when you get close. One of the displays that you can unlock for the Labo area is a Bot with a mess of cards with various “PS” logos. These are actually all of Manabu Sakamoto’s designs for the PlayStation logo, before he landed on the one still in use today. In-between the D-Pad lights described above is a camera on a hemisphere.

I mentioned this already in my Astro’s Playroom preview, but it really can’t be overstated how innovative the DualSense PS5 Controller is and just how effective Astro’s Playroom is at showing it off. From the opening moments when it teaches you about the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback it never stops impressing all the way until the very end. From the start, climb the first ledge, and instead of progressing on the critical path to the wall ahead, go through the grass on the left, and you’ll find a Bloodborne bot. And yet, even when Astro is pulling off his most basic moves in familiar environments, this game feels revelatory.

Its other addition is a boom arm microphone that can be used as an alternative to the DualSense’s microphone for voice chat. Each hub world‚ like GPU Jungle‚ contains multiple pieces across its four areas. Collecting all pieces unlocks special rewards and contributes to trophy progress. Thorough exploration and careful navigation are key to finding every piece‚ ensuring you don’t miss any hidden gems. Earning Gold Trophies in Astro Playroom demands exceptional skill and precision. These trophies are tied to challenging tasks like speedrunning specific levels or completing difficult sections without taking damage. One notable trophy requires defeating a boss using only melee attacks‚ while another involves navigating a tricky obstacle course flawlessly.

When you pull back on the drawstring, the adaptive trigger gets tighter as it draws power. You wish there were more targets and enemies to use the bow again. ASTRO’s PLAYROOM is a platformer video game developed by Team ASOBI and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Artifact 2/2 “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller” – From the location of puzzle piece 4, drop down to the right where you can see the line of coins and grab another monkey bar. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Now instead of progressing upward from that puzzle piece, go to the right side of that monkey bar to reach another handhold up to the right, which drops the wall to the right.
